If you’re looking for where to listen to podcasts, Communications Professional and avid podcast listener Cassandra Sproch has you covered! Here is every platform where you can listen to podcasts (including free apps):
Where to Listen to Podcasts (for free!)
Apple Podcasts
Perhaps one of the oldest podcast streaming platforms that Cassandra Sproch still uses, Apple Podcasts has been a staple in podcast listening for nearly two decades. In June 2005, Apple began supporting podcasts on iTunes. In 2012, Apple Podcasts received its own standalone app and in 2014, the app became a pre-installed feature on all iOS devices. All episodes on Apple Podcasts are free to listen to. As one of the oldest podcast streaming platforms, Apple Podcasts is home to a vast catalog of more than 30 million episodes.
Google Podcasts
You’re almost late to the party on this one… Google Podcasts was launched in 2018. But Communications Professional Cassandra Sproch is sad to say that the application is set to shut down in April 2024. This platform is an Android friendly alternative to Apple’s iOS counterpart. Listen to the catalog before it’s too late… or say ‘goodbye’ to a not-so-popular Google application. But don’t worry, Google is set to replace the app with YouTube Music.
Overcast
Overcast is an iOS exclusive app that works well with Apple Watch devices. Cassandra Sproch enjoys the clip sharing feature of this app, which enables users and listeners to capture and save audio clips from their favorite podcast episodes. There is a paid subscription option for Overcast, which Sproch also enjoys, as it enables users to try their hand at podcasting by uploading original audio to the platform.
